...for three weeks, which (I must remember) really isn't that long at all.
The last time I hiked along the AT it was for one week leading a group of teenagers, but before that, back in the Summer of 2004, I had been out for three months and was one-third of the way through my journey.
Ten years and two kids, plus a whole lotta life lessons later, and I am still one-third of the way through my journey along the Appalachian Trail.
So, this is me, picking up where I left off, dragging a couple of awesome friends along with me, who never have done this sort of thing before, and they trust me to hang the bear bag at night. Haha! I have them fooled onto thinking I'm great at this sort of thing...
The truth is, a lot of time has passed since I've been out there. I've gotten used to things like body pillows and strong coffee in the morning. So, while I'm going to bed knowing this is going to be a wicked-big challenge, and I'm going to miss some things like mad- not only my king-sized bed and spoon partner, but my freakin' awesome children (holy-crap-don't-get-me-goin') - I'm also going to bed really thrilled about the next little chapter in my AT journey and the upcoming adventures Tammi and Amy and I are about to share.
And because it's often hard to answer the question people always ask, which is WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS?!... I would like to try and post with the answers I find along the way.
Stay tuned to our little blogging trio!
