The One at The Wicked-Cool Shelter

Full Day 1 for us was crazy. We got out at 8am. It started raining around 10 after some good views on a ridge. On our epic quest for a swimming hole, it rained and rained and rained. Soaking, but still wanting to jump in a swimming hole, we made it and sat down to eat lunch. Just as Tammi was mid-way through her tuna packet, all he'll broke loose from the sky. There was lightening very close. All we could do was pack up and walk...so we walked up a mountain for lack of a better place to go. It stormed and stormed.
But somewhere, hidden way back along a stream, many miles farther than our guide book had us believing, we came to a fantastic shelter! Being among few out here, we had the place to oyrselves so we decided to hang from the rafters. What a sweet idea . Now we are spoiled into thinking we can do that often. Probably not.
Number one negative was my mind playing tricks on everyone and thinking there was surely a bear getting into out food in the middle of the rainy night. I was so sure, I had the entire blog post written about howee had no food for 5 days. But wouldn't ya know it, that bear was a figment of my imagination!?
We are the jerks who hammocked in the shelter, while one got did end up coming in at around 9. I had already drifted to sleep. Slept like a baby.
But today is GORGEOUS!! Here's a view: until next time, everyone...
